Bespoke Activities

The Swanage Centre can tailor your booking to ensure it includes everything you need. You can pick and choose which of our on-site facilities you wish to use, subject to availability, or you can run a self-led course using our residential facilities. As well as our wide range of on-site facilities, we can offer many optional educational modules and recreational activities through our local partners.

The following activities can be booked with your full-board accommodation.

Sports and Activity Modules

Educational facilities include: 33 modern purpose-built classrooms with interactive whiteboards, computer rooms with Internet access, library, cinema / lecture hall with digital TV, Wi-Fi connectivity area, assembly hall / mini theatre / satellite TV.

Sports facilities include: games room including American pool and darts, indoor heated swimming pool, table-tennis and games room, aeroball arena, squash courts, team-building skills zone, basketball court, five tennis courts, volleyball court, mini golf, indoor sports hall for tennis, badminton, volleyball and five-a-side football, football / handball and tennis court.

Adventure Sports

In a wide range adventure sports the students are able to develop social skills such as communication, negotiation, assertiveness and collaboration and stretch their own perceived boundaries. Situated by the coast we are able to offer real adventure opportunities such as coasteering, kayaking, rock climbing, bushcraft and high ropes in a fantastic setting. Building relationships and developing the skills to work effectively as a member of a team, and taking on different roles and responsibilities enables them to grow in confidence and fosters respect for others.

Jurassic Coast

In 2001 The Jurassic Coast was designated part of England’s first natural World Heritage Site for its geology and geomorphology. Purbeck has one of the finest examples of late Jurassic – early Cretaceous rock sequences in the world. This contains a treasure trove of fossils, ranging from a well preserved Jurassic forest to some of the longest dinosaur trackways ever found.

There is incredible biodiversity spread across Purbeck allowing students to experience the wonder of the natural environment. Students are able to develop a range of science related knowledge and skills in an exciting way. These can include: planning, data collection, quantitative and qualitative testing, data analysis, creating graphs, drawing conclusions, evaluating, exploring reliability, validity and limitations; using ICT and GIS.
